BARN PROJECT

UPDATE!
The Dickerson Barn started being raised on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at our site on North Territorial and Curtis Roads!!!!
The walls are now complete.  The loft structure and its floor are complete.  The roof structure is complete and has been shingled.  The doors were hung in August 2008.   The Barn was painted in October.  A scout community project was held in November to improve the crawl space and the flooring.

However, SAHS is still needs to raise the last of the funds to complete this project.   We are short of funds to complete the windows, fence and the landscaping.  Raising the remaining needed funds is critical now.  We still need about $3,000.

If  anyone would like to donate our address is:

 Barn Progress Report
Work began  in February at the Barn Site.   The floor structure was laid and work on assembling the timber frame  progressed.
As of June 10, 2007 all the structure beams had been fitted and were ready to stand up.  The wall structure was raised on June 12, 2007.  The siding is Michigan White Pine (1"x12"x14').  The roof is Red Cedar shingles.  Ash trees from the Fishbeck farm have been cut and was used for flooring in the loft.
More 2' diameter or greater ash logs can be used to be sawed for 2" planks for the barn floor.  Contact us at Salem_Area_HS@yahoo.com if you can donate them.

WINDY ACRES DICKERSON BARN PROJECT

Our Dickerson  "Windy Acres" Barn project moves forward under the leadership of local contracter Ken Brock and Associates.

Ken was the contracter for the Maybury barn move and also moving a barn off Sheldon road to a new Northville park  being developed on Napier Rd north of Six mile rd. That barn is very simular to our barn with the exception of it having a basement.

"Windy Acres" stripped of its roof and siding is ready to be dismantled piece by piece.
